Singapore stocks remained rooted in the red on Thursday, as investor sentiment was driven by a slower than expected rise in the US inflation in August which lowers the chances of a rate hike.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,652.82 and 5,700.59 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,667.67, down 8.21 points or 0.1% compared to Wednesday's close.

On the corporate front, shares of Thakral Corp. (SGX:AWI) closed nearly 5% higher as it completed the divestment of a commercial building in Osaka, Japan, for 4.12 billion yen.

Jardine Matheson (SGX:J36) closed nearly 3% higher as it completed the acquisition of I-MED Radiology Network.

Meanwhile, shares of Mapletree Industrial Trust (SGX:ME8U) were down nearly 1% at the close after completing the sale of a data center in Minnesota to current tenant DataBank Properties for $9.81 million.
