Utilities Shares Tick Higher as Bond Yields Cool Down

High-yielding shares in the utilities sector have suffered with fast-rising bond yields, but a pause in bond selloff on Thursday offered the sector some relief.

Enerflex is accelerating its push into digital infrastructure, securing a contract to supply 450 megawatt of off-grid, natural gas-fired power generation for a North American data center developer. The strain from energy bottlenecks has forced digital infrastructure providers to seek out alternatives to bypass local and regional grids, connecting directly to power sources, such as nuclear or gas-powered.

NextEra Energy Resources was selected by the Commerce Department and the South Korean government to develop a more than $22 billion energy infrastructure campus in Encinal, Texas. The company, owned by NextEra Energy, will work on the Project Star campus with Related Companies, in partnership with Lewis Energy Group. The project is expected to have capacity for 6.47 gigawatts of natural gas generation. The project is part of a trade deal signed last summer between South Korea and the U.S.
