Samsung Bioepis (KRX:0126Z0) has signed an early-stage partnership with Teva Pharmaceuticals to research, develop, and commercialize two biosimilar candidates, according to a bourse filing on Friday.
The two biosimilars drugs - copies of existing biologic medicines - are SB41 for severe eosinophilic asthma and SB44 for hereditary periodic fever syndromes.
Under the agreement, Samsung Bioepis will handle development, manufacturing, and supply, while Teva will commercialize the products in the United States, Europe, and Canada.
Teva has also secured options to expand territories and enter additional partnerships covering Samsung Bioepis' biosimilar pipeline.
The agreement is conditional, with revenue recognition dependent on clinical trial success and product approval, and terminable in the event of regulatory clinical holds or failure to obtain marketing approval.
