Ryanair (RYAAY) flew 20.1 million passengers in September, up 4% from 19.4 million a year earlier, the company said Friday.

Ryanair operated more than 111,700 flights in September.

More than 1,000 flights were cancelled because of a further UK air traffic control system failure, Belgian air traffic control strikes and Mount Etna eruptions, the company said in a regulatory submission.

Rolling passenger traffic totalled 215.1 million as of Sept. 30, up 5% from 203.9 million a year earlier, it said.

September load factor was unchanged at 94% from a year earlier.
