India approved the Green Energy Corridor Phase-III scheme to strengthen intra-state power transmission systems and enable the evacuation of up to 135 GW of renewable energy, according to a government statement on Wednesday.
The scheme has a total outlay of 1.86 trillion rupees, including 1.36 trillion rupees for intra-state transmission systems and 500 billion rupees for 50 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
The scheme is targeted for completion by fiscal 2033 and is intended to improve grid flexibility, reduce renewable energy curtailment, and support power demand during non-solar hours.
The initiative is also aimed at supporting India's target of 900 GW of installed non-fossil capacity by 2035, the government said.
