China's DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools optimized for Huawei's Ascend chips, deepening the collaboration between two of China's major technology companies.
The Hangzhou-based company is making an open-source software infrastructure toolkit for Huawei's Ascend accelerators, according to an article on its WeChat account on Wednesday. TileLang, a software for developing artificial intelligence, is among the tools that can be downloaded and used for free, it said.
TileLang now supports Huawei Ascend 950 chips, according to its official Github page. The tool is already compatible with other chip ecosystems, including Nvidia's and AMD's.
Huawei provided "full support" during the research and development process of the programming infrastructure, according to DeepSeek's WeChat article. The company has been working with Huawei to optimize its Ascend 950 chips, it said.
Apart from Huawei, DeepSeek has been working with other domestic chip companies. Cambricon Technologies and Moore Threads have previously confirmed compatibility with DeepSeek's AI models.
The company, recognized as a national champion of China's AI sector, has hired banks and advisers in preparation for a planned listing in Shanghai next year, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
