Recent developments have emerged in the construction of the Ruili-Menglian Expressway project: the middle pilot tunnel of Chaoyang No. 1 Tunnel has successfully entered construction, officially entering the substantive excavation phase, while the left tube of Dunzhong No. 2 Tunnel has achieved successful breakthrough.
Chaoyang No. 1 Tunnel is located in Xiangda Town, Longling County, Baoshan City, with a middle pilot tunnel length of 530 meters and a main tunnel length of 550 meters.
Dunzhong No. 2 Tunnel is situated in Fengping Town, Mangshi, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture. It is a separated long tunnel with a left tube total length of 1,700 meters and a maximum burial depth of approximately 275 meters. It serves as a critical passage for the subsequent transportation and erection of precast T-beams for the project.

The Ruili-Menglian Expressway is one of the key expressway construction projects in Yunnan Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
The route begins near Jiele in the northern part of Ruili City, passes through Mangshi in Dehong Prefecture, Longling County in Baoshan City, Zhenkang County, Gengma Dai and Wa Autonomous County, and Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County in Lincang City, as well as Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Ximeng Wa Autonomous County, and Menglian Dai, Lahu and Wa Autonomous County in Pu'er City, and ends near Langlie Village in Menglian Dai, Lahu and Wa Autonomous County, connecting seamlessly with the Menglian-Menghai Expressway.
The total length is 512.11 kilometers, with an estimated investment of 63.938 billion yuan, constructed to a two-way four-lane expressway standard.
