Maiden Flight Launches Direct Cargo Route from Jiashan to Luxembourg

In the early hours of today (September 21), a fully laden cargo aircraft departed from Jiaxing Nanhu Airport, heading straight for Luxembourg, a core European logistics hub. The "Jiaxing-Luxembourg" intercontinental all-cargo route, operated by China Post, has completed its inaugural flight, officially activating this air freight corridor into the heart of Western Europe.

Notably, 36.5 tons of cargo on board—accounting for roughly 44% of the total payload—consisted of cross-border e-commerce parcels that had cleared customs and undergone transit procedures at the Jiashan Pre-Positioned Cargo Station within the Jiaxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone (Zone B), linked to Jiaxing Nanhu Airport. This shipment was primarily export goods from the Pinduoduo platform, covering daily necessities, small appliances, clothing, and other categories, characterized by small batches, multiple shipments, and high timeliness typical of cross-border e-commerce. All cargo was inspected and cleared for transit at the Jiashan Pre-Positioned Cargo Station, eliminating the need for secondary unpacking or transshipment at other locations, achieving an integrated seamless chain of "in-zone consolidation, pre-positioned inspection, and direct loading." This truly enables local goods to "clear customs at their doorstep and board the aircraft at their doorstep."

For an extended period, cross-border e-commerce exporters in Jiashan had to transport goods to Shanghai, Hangzhou, and other external ports for customs declaration and shipment. The overland transit involved numerous steps, consumed significant time, and incurred high costs, often resulting in missed flight cutoff deadlines. With the regular operation of the Jiashan Pre-Positioned Cargo Station, airport port inspection functions have been moved to the frontline of industry, bringing port services directly to the gates of enterprise facilities, thoroughly resolving local cross-border logistics pain points. "When enterprises deliver goods to the Jiashan Pre-Positioned Cargo Station, average logistics time per shipment is compressed by 1 to 2 days, and overall costs drop by approximately 10% to 30%. Companies no longer need to 'haul goods to the airport themselves,' which essentially breaks down the physical barriers between air ports and industrial hinterlands," explained Jiang Qingfeng, Deputy Director of the Jiashan High-Tech Zone (Jiaxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone B) Management Committee.

The Jiaxing Nanhu Airport-to-Luxembourg cargo route uses B777F wide-body freighter aircraft, with a maximum single-flight capacity of 84 tons. Under normal operations, two flights will operate weekly, with projected annual import and export cargo volume exceeding 12,000 tons. Leveraging this stable European cargo trunk route, Jiaxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone (Zone B) will continue strengthening its pre-positioned cargo station services, accelerate the construction of a second-phase cargo facility, expedite the integration of civil aviation security checks, and aim for second-phase operations to commence by year-end.

Moving forward, Jiaxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone (Zone B) will optimize freight rates, delivery times, and operational convenience, transforming the "bonded zone plus air port" model from an innovative approach into a default option. This will encourage more small and medium-sized enterprises to recalculate their shipping paths and switch from "Shanghai transit" to "Jiashan direct shipment."
