Keiichi Iguchi, senior strategist at Resona Holdings, said the summary of opinions from the Bank of Japan's policy meeting last month appears less hawkish than expected, which may trigger selling of the yen.
Markets had originally anticipated that more hawkish views would emerge within the BOJ following related comments from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others.
As the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York made dovish remarks, and after weak U.S. personal consumption expenditure data, market expectations for U.S. rate hikes have cooled, making Friday's U.S. employment report the focus of market attention.
