August Northbound Bond Connect Trading Volume Reaches 803.9 Billion Yuan with Daily Average of 38.3 Billion

Data released by Bond Connect Company reveals that Northbound Bond Connect transactions in August amounted to 803.9 billion yuan, marking a 6.37% decrease month-on-month and the third consecutive monthly decline, while still representing a 7.17% increase year-on-year. The average daily trading volume stood at 38.3 billion yuan, up 2.68% from the previous month and 7.28% higher compared to the same period last year.

Policy financial bonds and Chinese government bonds emerged as the most actively traded bond categories, accounting for 58% and 22% of the total transaction volume, respectively. In the Northbound Swap Connect segment, August witnessed a total of 906 transactions, reflecting a 12.27% increase month-on-month and a 14.25% rise year-on-year.

The transaction value for Northbound Swap Connect reached 543.101 billion yuan, showing a 10.97% growth from July and a substantial 29.41% surge compared to the previous year. By the end of August, 99 overseas institutions had participated through the Northbound Swap Connect program.
