On Mid-Autumn Festival day, Hong Kong tram and light rail services will be free of charge, with unlimited rides. The initiative is sponsored by Chinese brokerage Huatai International, with support from MTR Corporation and Hong Kong Tramways.

It is understood that this year marks the sixth edition of the "Huatai Light Rail Tram Fun" Mid-Autumn free ride day event.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki said in his speech at the event that the smooth holding of the activity relied on the joint efforts of Huatai International, MTR Corporation and Hong Kong Tramways. The three organizations have consistently cared about society and been enthusiastic about public welfare, demonstrating corporate social responsibility.

The event organically combines travel, care and youth development, connecting communities and strengthening bonds between people, while also adding vitality to the local economy and tourism. It is hoped that residents traveling during the Mid-Autumn Festival will feel the warmth and vitality of Hong Kong.
