Trump Unveils AI-Powered America.gov to Serve as One-Stop Portal for Government Services

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday launched a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered website designed to serve as a one-stop portal for government services, a move that sees Trump further embracing AI at a time of growing public skepticism about its economic and social impact.

Trump signed an executive order requiring all federal agencies to integrate their public-facing systems with the new website, America.gov, "so that all of these interfaces will plug directly into our great, brilliant brain, a super brain."

Trump promoted the website during a day-long event that featured tech industry leaders including Elon Musk of Tesla, Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Dave Limp of Blue Origin LLC. Through the website, members of the public will be able to apply for benefits, arrange mail forwarding or process name changes.

The initiative is being led by Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb Inc., whom Trump appointed as the US government's first chief design officer.

"There's one topic that can unite everyone, regardless of gender, age or political affiliation: government websites are simply a nightmare," Gebbia said Tuesday at a Silicon Valley-style product launch event.

The new America.gov tool will become the homepage of the federal government. Instead of searching through more than 29,000 government websites, users will be able to ask questions in natural language to get the information they need.

Gebbia said that starting in 2027, the website will "move from answering questions to taking action." He said the website received assistance during its development from Google's Gemini and SpaceXAI's Grok.
