Following the delivery of the "Sangxia 1" vessel, the converted "Sangxia 2" recently set sail, marking the completion and handover of both residential medical ship conversion projects undertaken by Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd.

The "Sangxia" series vessels were converted from 700TEU container ships and will serve as independently navigable floating hospitals, providing medical support to remote and underdeveloped regions as well as disaster-affected areas.

Transforming a standard container ship into a floating hospital equipped with comprehensive medical, residential, and marine systems represents a rare and highly challenging specialized conversion project on a global scale, given the complex system integration, stringent medical standards, and numerous engineering interfaces involved.

During the conversion process, the ship repair division of Chengxi Shipyard assembled key personnel to form a project team and a joint office for the "Sangxia" vessels, centralizing dispersed professional workstreams, holding weekly single-vessel progress meetings, and establishing temporary on-site offices to assist the shipowner with on-site design and drawing modifications.

The project team worked together efficiently to overcome technical and production bottlenecks one by one, implementing the complex multi-disciplinary, multi-interface engineering tasks item by item, accumulating replicable and promotable experience for the company in the high-end specialized conversion sector.
