The Ministry of Commerce published a concise statistical report on China's outbound direct investment across all industries for the January to August period of 2026 on its website on the 24th.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, during the first eight months of this year, China's outbound direct investment across all industries reached 778.47 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year decline of 0.6% (or 113.39 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.9% in dollar terms).
Among this total, domestic investors made non-financial direct investments in 8,424 overseas enterprises across 148 countries and regions worldwide, with cumulative investment amounting to 595.06 billion yuan, down 14.4% (or 86.68 billion US dollars, a decrease of 10.6% in dollar terms).
In addition, during the January to August period, Chinese enterprises made non-financial direct investments of 167.24 billion yuan in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, representing a year-on-year decline of 11.3% (or 24.36 billion US dollars, a decrease of 7.4% in dollar terms).
