On September 16, China Mobile hosted a media open day at its newly established Xiong'an New Area Smart City Science and Technology Innovation Center. This facility, a group-level platform for showcasing scientific research achievements, highlights the company's frontier developments in three key domains: communication services, computing power services, and intelligent services.
As captured in a photo taken on September 16 by Liu Guangyu, the center displays a model of the Xiong'an New Area's "Three Cities" project. The innovation hub is organized into three major exhibition zones, each designed to explore a distinct theme.
The first zone, called "City of Innovation," begins its narrative with the origins of revolutionary red communications, tracing the story from the historic "half a radio station" to the evolution spanning 1G through 6G. This area vividly illustrates the generational leaps in communication technology, offering visitors a deep dive into the sector's progression.
The second zone, "City of Charm," focuses on tangible applications, showcasing breakthroughs in computing networks, artificial intelligence, digital-intelligent manufacturing, and digital-intelligent transportation. This area brings to light how these advanced technologies are already being implemented in real-world scenarios, with staff members like those seen in another September 16 photo explaining these outcomes to visitors.
The third zone, "City of the Future," invites audiences to envision long-term urban life through interactive engagement. Using the Lingxi AI assistant, this section employs dynamic dialogue during tours to project what city living might look like 20 to 100 years from now, offering a forward-looking perspective on urban evolution.
Departing from traditional exhibition methods, the center brings actual devices and physical objects directly into the display space. For instance, visitors can step into the Mobile Aijia (Smart Home) area to experience the complete picture of intelligent home life through products such as AI companion lamps, desktop robots, and smart wearable devices.
The immersive environment extends beyond static displays, featuring elements like a surround cinema, digital human interactions, and an elevating display stage. These installations enable visitors to engage in AI conversations with digital representations of historical figures such as Confucius and Albert Einstein. Additionally, a massive screen offers the captivating "Flying Over Baiyangdian" immersive film experience, further enriching the sensory journey through the center's innovative features.
