The WhaleRui AI Creation Competition held its first sharing session at the Communication University of China on September 28.

At the event, Guo Yanmin, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Communication University of China, stated that AI has expanded the types of audiovisual works that can be created, saving costs, improving efficiency, and lowering the professional threshold, giving wings of freedom to the creation of creative fictional works. To date, AI has not created entirely new forms or types of art, and its main role is that of a "replacement tool."

Feng Zhaoyue, a content development expert at Whale Entertainment Group, believes that beautiful visuals and technological innovation can deliver a striking first impression, but character development, world-building, narrative sustainability, and IP expansion potential are the core dimensions by which platforms judge good content. The story itself is the key factor determining whether a work is worth developing.

On September 17, Whale Entertainment Group launched the "Whale AI Talent Program," an AI talent incubation and training initiative, and simultaneously kicked off the WhaleRui AI Creation Competition. As the first AI video creation competition in China with a total prize pool of 10 million yuan, the event offers 265 award slots, with the highest single prize reaching 2 million yuan. It is open to individuals and teams, with no restrictions on AI creation tools or the themes of works.
