Wuxi Shuofang Airport's first inbound duty-free shop officially opened on September 30, becoming Wuxi's first such store and Jiangsu province's second inbound duty-free shop at a port.
In January of this year, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of Finance and four other departments jointly issued a notice to establish new inbound duty-free shops at 41 ports across the country. The Wuxi Shuofang Airport port was the only selected port in Jiangsu province in this batch.
The inbound duty-free shop is located in the core area of the international terminal's arrival floor at Wuxi Shuofang Airport, positioned directly along the passenger flow route for arriving travelers. It primarily sells beauty and fragrance products, premium wines and spirits, cigarettes and cigars, and other categories of duty-free goods. Leveraging the advantages of duty-free policies, it offers inbound travelers a one-stop duty-free shopping experience, fully meeting their diverse consumption needs.
"The project preparation period was tight, with site construction, system integration, and initial stock allocation tasks all concentrated together. Thanks to the customs team's multiple on-site guidance sessions, a green channel for duty-free goods allocation and warehouse entry supervision was established, effectively resolving many bottlenecks in our preparation process," said Li Fei, project manager of the Shenzhen Duty Free Group's Wuxi project. The store has completed stockpiling and can fully guarantee duty-free product supply during the holiday period.
"Wuxi Customs will coordinate regulatory efficiency with service improvements, contributing customs strength to cultivating new momentum for cross-border consumption and boosting regional high-level opening-up," said Pu Yanfeng, deputy director of the Wuxi Customs Office stationed at the airport.
