During the National Day holiday period, airfare prices have dropped noticeably, with same-period hotel bookings in popular cities rising 30% year-over-year, according to data from travel platforms on October 2.
Data shows that airfare prices began to fall significantly on October 2, dropping 20% compared to October 1. Prices continued to decline on October 3 and 4, reaching their lowest point during the holiday period. Starting from October 5, as travelers began their return journeys, prices climbed steadily, peaking on October 7 before falling back on October 8 and 9.
Taking the Beijing-Kunming route as an example, a flight departing at 6:40 AM on October 1 had a base fare of 1,927 yuan, while the same route on October 2 was priced at 884 yuan, 50% cheaper than October 1.
Looking at specific routes: departing from Beijing on October 3, the lowest base fare to Harbin was 300 yuan; from Guangzhou to Qingdao, the lowest was 500 yuan; from Shanghai to Xi'an, the lowest was 350 yuan; and from Wuhan to Tianjin, the lowest was 385 yuan.
An analysis of hotel booking data from the platform shows that same-period bookings at hotels in popular cities increased 30% year-over-year. The cities with the highest volume of last-minute bookings were Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, and Xi'an.
