Farmers are busy harvesting colorful corn. Walking into the colorful corn fields of Yongzheng Village in Yong'an Town, farmers are busy picking, sorting, and transporting, creating a bustling scene of a bountiful harvest.

Plump and crystalline kernels interweave in red, purple, yellow, white, and other colors, each one glistening like jade. Unlike ordinary edible corn, colorful corn kernels have a dense texture and, after being sun-dried and polished, can develop a warm patina, possessing both ornamental and cultural-creative value, and have become a new highlight in the development of local specialty rural agriculture.

Ji Xiuming, head of Guokui Caiyu Planting Co., Ltd., said: "Our 25 mu of colorful corn has matured. Taking advantage of the clear weather, we are organizing farmers for centralized harvesting, with an estimated yield of 5,000 ears per mu. Next, we will organize villagers to carry out cultural-creative production and actively connect with sales channels to help increase farmers' incomes."

It is understood that in order to continuously improve the quality of seed sources, the county took the initiative to connect with the Economic Crops Research Institute of the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, securing high-quality colorful corn seeds and standardized cultivation technical support, and providing expert follow-up guidance on seed selection, sowing, field management, and other stages within its jurisdiction, laying a solid foundation for high yield and quality.

This year, the colorful corn has grown promisingly, with output increasing by 66.67% compared with last year. After grading and sorting, cultural-creative processing, and packaging for sale, the colorful corn is expected to generate a net income of 20,000 yuan per mu, with an average income increase of 5,000 yuan per mu. The planting efficiency is three times that of ordinary corn, while also providing nearby employment for 16 local farming households, achieving income growth from both farming and employment.
