Hejin: Drone-Enabled Smart Operations Boost Quality and Efficiency of Autumn Afforestation

Autumn is the right time to add greenery. Currently, the autumn afforestation work of the Shanggu Road comprehensive land greening management project in Hejin City is being stepped up. The project innovatively uses drones to transport seedlings, breaking through the transportation bottleneck of mountain afforestation and pressing the "accelerator" for land greening through technological means.

The Shanggu Road comprehensive land greening management project focuses on improving the ecological quality along the road, follows the principles of adapting to local conditions and matching tree species to sites, and coordinates artificial afforestation, degraded forest restoration, and road area environmental improvement. It scientifically plants native tree species such as Chinese pine to continuously improve the ecological landscape along the route.

The project plots have complex terrain and poor site conditions. Traditional vehicles cannot reach them, and manual seedling transport is time-consuming and labor-intensive, while also posing safety hazards for mountain operations. For this reason, the project has launched drone-enabled smart operations. Through precise lifting and fixed-point seedling delivery, it has opened up the transportation bottleneck for mountain afforestation, greatly reduced labor costs, shortened the operation cycle, effectively avoided construction risks, and made complex mountain greening construction more efficient and precise.

During construction, the Municipal Forestry Bureau strictly controlled the gates of seedling selection, planting standards, and quality acceptance, strictly controlled afforestation quality, and made every effort to ensure the survival rate of seedlings. The construction team seized the golden window period for autumn afforestation and advanced the project construction in an orderly manner while keeping a close eye on the construction goals.

Next, the Municipal Forestry Bureau will carry out routine follow-up management such as watering, straightening, and pest and disease control for seedlings, continuously consolidate the afforestation results, and strive to build a demonstration model project for comprehensive land greening management.
