During the National Day holiday, water-based tourism saw a surge in passenger flow while energy and material transport remained busy. Frontline maritime workers adopted multiple measures, using smart supervision to empower safety governance and precise services to keep waterway channels open, fully safeguarding public travel safety and ensuring smooth waterway transport of key materials.

Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration Deploys Smart Robots to Boost Safety

During the National Day holiday, Ningbo's Dongqian Lake welcomed a peak in water tourism passenger flow, with crowds streaming to the docks. To ensure water traffic safety in the lake area, the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration leveraged smart education tools, deploying its embodied intelligent robot "Hairui" for on-site safety education, combined with multi-dimensional supervision measures to build a dual protection network of "smart supervision plus intelligent education," fully safeguarding tourists' water travel safety.

At the Dongqian Lake distribution center dock, "Hairui" served as an intelligent quiz master, ready to start interactive Q&A upon activation. Tourists asking about life jacket locations, self-rescue techniques after falling into water, and precautions for rescuing drowning victims all received easy-to-understand answers. "Hairui" became a standout safety educator on site, winning over many passing tourists, especially children.

"The intelligent robot at the dock can broadcast on a loop and interact in real time, filling the gap in personnel-based outreach and making safety education more tech-savvy and engaging," said Chen Sunlu, deputy head of the Dongqian Lake Maritime Patrol Enforcement Brigade of the Ningbo Yin-Feng Maritime Office. Smart education and tech-based supervision complement each other, strengthening on-site control while making safety knowledge more vivid and interesting, more easily accepted by both adults and children. Many tourists gathered around the robot to experience it, with children eagerly asking "Hairui" questions in a lively atmosphere. Ms. Wang, a resident visiting with her child, said: "My child had so much fun interacting with the robot and learned safety knowledge about boarding and self-rescue while playing. This kind of education is novel and meaningful."

"Next, we will continue exploring smart maritime applications, enriching water safety education formats, empowering water traffic safety governance with technology, and safeguarding public water travel safety," Chen Sunlu said.

Huangpu Maritime Safety Administration Fully Supports Huangpu River Night Cruises

During the National Day holiday, the 3rd Shanghai International Light and Shadow Festival and the 37th Shanghai Tourism Festival were held, combined with the lingering effects of the WorldSkills Competition, making the city's riverside night scenery dazzling and the urban atmosphere vibrant. Citizens and Chinese and foreign tourists showed strong enthusiasm for night tours, with demand for Huangpu River night cruises remaining robust, making it a popular leisure experience during the holiday.

To fully meet the public's rising demand for nighttime travel and sightseeing, the Huangpu Maritime Safety Administration took precise measures and proactive services, relying on the digital-intelligent safety service platform for the Huangpu River core area, integrating water patrols, electronic patrols, and drone patrols to build a water-land-air multi-dimensional service guarantee system, comprehensively safeguarding smooth and orderly navigation for Huangpu River night cruises.

In response to weather changes such as gusts and brief rainfall on the river during the National Day period, the administration connected with meteorological information in real time, strictly implemented the call-and-response mechanism for short-term disaster-causing weather, and based on precise meteorological station data in the jurisdiction, scientifically guided night cruise ships to implement navigation restrictions, escorting night tour travel.

Meanwhile, the Huangpu Maritime Safety Administration adhered to "absolute safety in the passenger ship sector," implementing refined "zone-divided, lane-divided, time-divided" service guarantees for night cruise ships. Based on the "Huangpu River Sightseeing Ship Flight Plan Safety Guidelines," it scientifically scheduled flight plans to better balance safe operation of night cruise ships with strong holiday tourist demand, making boarding smoother and sightseeing more enjoyable for citizens and tourists.

Zhenjiang Pilot Station Guides 7 Coal Ships into Port in a Single Day

On October 3, the Zhenjiang Pilot Station guided 7 imported coal ships in a single day, with a total deadweight of approximately 294,000 tons, safeguarding the energy channel with efficient pilotage and ensuring material supply through dedicated action.

Thermal coal transport connects power plant boilers on one end and millions of homes on the other. Among the coal ships arriving that day, several needed to berth directly at Jianbi Power Plant, Jurong Power Plant, and Taizhou Power Plant docks, serving as a "ballast stone" for the electricity needs of millions of households during the National Day holiday. The Zhenjiang Pilot Station provided forward-leaning services and proactive action, developing "one ship, one policy" pilotage plans, opening a "green channel" for energy supply, achieving direct entry and direct berthing with fast in-and-out operations, and using precise and efficient pilotage services to minimize ship transit time, helping energy transport achieve pilotage "acceleration."

With sufficient raw materials, production remains stable; with a smooth chain, industry thrives. Some of the coal arriving that day was transferred through Zhenjiang Port to supply surrounding coal chemical enterprises. This batch of coal will be mainly used for synthetic ammonia, methanol, acetic acid, and derivative production, ensuring raw material supply for leading local coal chemical enterprises in Zhenjiang and clearing the "main artery" for high-quality development of local port-industry-city integration.

It is reported that the operation chain ran seamlessly from late night to early morning. During the holiday period, water traffic volume was high and ship density was heavy, but safety pilotage standards were not lowered and requirements were not relaxed. The Zhenjiang Pilot Station conducted advance assessments and scientific scheduling, with duty leaders, pilots, dispatchers, and logistics support personnel all on standby and on duty throughout. It developed holiday safety pilotage contingency plans and strictly implemented all control measures to ensure pilotage work during the National Day period was safe, orderly, and efficient.
